I've been creating
environmental design, retail design, residential design, and architectural illustrations for more than twenty-five years,
working across the spectrum of specialty stores, “big box” retailers, food stores, trade shows, to service retail
such as banking, and automotive & boating dealerships. I've worked in Europe and Asia as well as the United States.

My greatest strengths
lie in creating strong yet practical design solutions which have enabled me to build a track record of projects that contain
unique ideas both impactful and implementable.
I believe strongly in a “hands-on” approach when working
with clients, collaborating as a team to jointly create solutions, and get the best ideas from all concerned for a better
end result. Consistent use of strong creative leadership allows the project team to remain focused while stretching the boundaries
of possibility.
I was educated at the Columbus College of Art & Design, and hold a BFA in Industrial Design.
In the past, I've held creative direction positions at three well-known larger retail design firms, in addition to heading
my own firm for eleven years. In late 2001, I founded the tom spayde studio, an independent consultancy focused on both short
